Ravines are better than plateaus

I’m learning about “vendoring” – the process by which your actually make your app’s dependencies easy to swallow and duplicate on remote locations.

Fascinating. I really love how in the linux based world, basically any dependency is just a “gem install” or “apt-get install” away.

As a windows user, this blows my mind.

As a developer, this yells “what have you been doing all these years?”

  1. Have you seen this article? http://ryan.mcgeary.org/2011/02/09/vendor-everything-still-applies/

I’ve been using this method for my rails apps and it’s been great.
